Beaufort Street to Light Up under an Albanese Government - MEDIA RELEASE

Perth’s vibrant Beaufort Street will light up under an Albanese Labor Government, with funding committed to a streetscape upgrade along the popular strip.

The $200,000 funding, as part of Labor’s Light Up Perth program, will fund City of Stirling-led upgrades to iconic spots along the strip, including new festival-style lighting and entry statements for suburbs.

These upgrades will help activate Beaufort Street, encouraging the local community to support small businesses and enhance the areas as a visitor and tourist destination in Perth.

A Federal Labor Government will work with the City of Stirling to deliver this project.

Federal Labor Member for Perth Patrick Gorman said: “Beaufort Street sits at the heart of the Perth community, and is a central spot for locals and visitors to gather and support small businesses.”

“As a local dad, I know families want to build stronger, more vibrant communities, and ensuring our streets are safe and bright at night is one simple way.”

“The Light Up Perth program will further enhance and activate the strip to encourage more visitors at night, expanding the offerings to the community and visitors.”

“An Albanese Labor Government will be partner Western Australians need in Canberra – working with State and local governments to deliver projects such as the Light Up Perth program.”

City of Stirling Mayor Mark Irwin said: “The City of Stirling appreciates the election commitment by the Federal Member for Perth, Patrick Gorman MP towards this project.”

“If funded, investments like this in our local communities help to create vibrancy in these key precincts, improving safety and increasing the number of people that visit the area.

“The new lighting installations will compliment the recent upgrades that were completed by the City of Stirling in the Mount Lawley precinct in 2021.”

The Light Up Perth program will also fund $200,000 in the City of Perth, including $150,000 to upgrade lighting along the Roe Street Footbridge.
