City of Light to shine brighter under and Albanese Labor Government

Perth’s status as the City of Light will be enhanced under a future Albanese Labor Government with a program to Light Up Perth.

Federal Labor will commit $200,000 to the City of Perth, including $50,000 to commission a festive decoration as part of the city’s annual light trail in 2022, and $150,000 to improve safety lighting along the Roe Street Bridge.

This project will not only make the walk between Perth Train Station and the Cultural Centre safer, but also a more activated space, and will complement the upgrade of the cultural heart of the city.

Shadow Assistant Minister for Western Australia and Federal Labor Member for Perth Patrick Gorman said, “Perth is famous for being the City of Light, and ahead of 2022, it’s time to make our City shine brighter.”

“These lighting projects in the heart of our community will mean more families get to enjoy evenings and nights in the city because of improved safety and atmosphere.”
